A Friday off Celebrity Equinox: safari timing in Kuşadası
The part of a Celebrity Equinox day in Kuşadası that needs a plan is the first hour. The port schedule as of early October 2026 lists two calls, Friday 7 May and Friday 4 June 2027, and on both she is in port from 09:00 to 19:00. Our 11:00 safari fits those hours, but you meet us at 10:10, which leaves a little over an hour between arrival and meeting.
Celebrity Equinox is a Solstice-class ship of Celebrity Cruises. She entered service in 2009 and carries about 2,852 guests by Celebrity's own count. On a ship that size, it helps to have your morning sorted before the gangway opens. The Celebrity Equinox ship page has the current hours for both Fridays.
Making the 10:10 meeting
A few habits make a 09:00 arrival easy:
- Have breakfast early, before the ship is alongside.
- Pack one small bag for the ride and the beach: sun protection, water, and swimwear and a towel if you plan to go in the sea.
- Head ashore as soon as you are able, rather than later in the morning.
- Walk to the Kervansaray meeting point (The Big Ottoman Palace), about 50 m from the cruise port exit. Here is the map.
If you are booking for several people, have everyone's ages to hand: quad and buggy drivers must be 16 or older, and horse riders 8 or older (younger children ride with an experienced adult companion). And if your morning slips and you cannot make 10:10, message us as soon as you can, because there is no later session that works on these Fridays.
From there it is about 15 minutes by road to the start, in the pine forest behind Pamucak beach.
The rest of the Friday
- 11:00 the ride begins: about two hours on forest trails, including a 30-minute sea break on Pamucak beach.
- 13:45 to 14:15 you are back at the port.
- 19:00 Celebrity Equinox sails.
After the latest return there are almost five hours before departure. Our rule is that you are back at least 60 minutes before the ship leaves, so the margin is generous. Check the all-aboard time in your daily programme as well, since it is usually earlier than 19:00. Lunch in Kuşadası, the shops around the harbour or a slow afternoon on deck all fit without any rush.
Why there is no afternoon ride
When a ship stays until 19:00, it is natural to ask about the 16:00 session. The numbers do not allow it. The afternoon group gets back between 18:45 and 19:15. A 19:00 departure would leave at best fifteen minutes, and on a later return none at all, far short of the hour we need. For the 16:00 ride she would have to leave at 20:15 or later. On both Fridays, then, the choice is the morning ride or no ride.
Quad, buggy or horse
On the buggy safari and the quad safari you drive yourself, and no licence is required. Drivers must be 16 or older, and single and double vehicles are available. A helmet, goggles and a safety briefing come first; then the group follows the guide in convoy. Children younger than about 2 years cannot ride.
The horse safari suits beginners aged 8 and over, and younger children can join with an experienced adult companion. It goes out in a small group with a riding guide. If your call is the May one, note that swimming during the horse safari's beach break depends on the season. Both dates are well clear of our winter closure, which lasts from 1 December through 31 March; the safaris restart on 1 April.
