Cruise passengers asking us "which tour" usually face one constraint: time at port. Here's how to choose between our two flagship cruise tours.
Quick rule
- Port window ≥ 9 hours (most ships): Jeep Safari fits comfortably
- Port window 5-8 hours: Quad or Buggy Safari is the safer call
- Port window <5 hours (rare, late arrivals): Quad only, with morning slot
Quad Safari — when it fits
Best for: 5–8 hour port windows. Cruise lines like Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) early-afternoon arrivals, or any ship with late morning docking.
Why: 2-hour ride + 45 min transfer each way = 3.5 hours total. Leaves you 1.5+ hours for ship lunch, even with a 5-hour call.
Best ships for this: Norwegian Epic, Celebrity Apex, Mein Schiff 6 (when arriving 11:00).
Jeep Safari — when it fits
Best for: 9+ hour port windows. MSC Splendida, Costa Toscana, Royal Caribbean Rhapsody.
What's included:
- Open-top jeep convoy (not single jeep alone)
- Zeus Cave (mountain spring)
- Kurşunlu Monastery (Byzantine ruins)
- Sea-break with swim
- Roadside water fight (most-photographed moment)
- Lunch included (Turkish menu, vegetarian option)
Why: It's a full shore excursion — competes with Ephesus tours and wins on uniqueness. Photos beat the standard ruin-and-bus selfies.
What about Buggy?
Buggy is a quad alternative — same trail, same time window, but side-by-side seating. Pick buggy if:
- You're traveling with someone who doesn't want to drive
- You have kids (Family Buggy 4-seat)
- You want the same photos but in a buggy roll cage
Group considerations
Solo cruiser: Quad (single rider €60). Jeep also works but you'll be paired with others.
Couple: Buggy 2-seat (€80/couple) or Quad single+single (€120 total).
Family of 4: Family Buggy €80 flat or Jeep €240 total (€60/person) — Jeep wins on value if 9+ hour port.
Group of 6+: Jeep convoy is the most fun — multiple jeeps, water fight gets epic.

- Subtract 45 min for transfer-back time
- Remaining hours = available tour time
