Summer in Kuşadası: Your 2026 Safari & Shore Excursion Guide

When the Aegean sun settles over Kuşadası, the whole coastline turns into an open-air playground. Pine-covered hills, dusty back-trails, hidden coves and the ancient world all sit within a short drive of the harbour. If you are planning a summer visit in 2026 — whether you are staying a week or stepping off a cruise ship for the day — here is how to spend it well, from a team that has been running these trails since 2014.
Why summer is the best time for a safari
June through September is peak adventure season on the Kuşadası peninsula. Long daylight hours mean you can ride in the morning and still hit the beach by afternoon. The trails are dry and fast, the views over the Aegean are at their clearest, and warm evenings are made for a cold drink after a dusty ride. Early mornings and late afternoons are the sweet spot — cooler temperatures, golden light, and softer sun for photos.
Choose your ride: quad, buggy, jeep or horse
Every safari covers the same beautiful backcountry, but the experience changes completely depending on what you drive:
- Quad safari — The classic. One rider, one machine, full control. Perfect if you want a hands-on, adrenaline-led ride through the hills.
- Buggy safari — Our most family-friendly option. Two-seater buggies mean kids, couples and nervous first-timers can share the fun while someone else handles the throttle.
- Jeep safari — Sit back and let an experienced driver take the wheel of a 4x4. The full-day jeep tour is ideal if you want to cover more ground, stay sealed from the dust, and bring along grandparents or little ones.
- Horse safari — The slow, soulful option. Trace olive groves and quiet trails on horseback — beautiful in the soft light of early morning or sunset.
Not sure which to pick? Buggies and quads are the high-energy choice; jeep and horse are the relaxed, all-ages way to see the same scenery.
Beyond the trails
A safari pairs perfectly with everything else Kuşadası is famous for:
- Ephesus — One of the best-preserved ancient cities in the world, just a short drive away. A morning at Ephesus and an afternoon on the trails is the perfect history-and-adventure combo.
- Dilek National Park — Crystal coves, hiking paths and pine forest on the peninsula just south of town.
- Pamucak Beach and the coast — Long open sand for cooling off after your ride.
- Şirince — A hillside village of stone houses, fruit wine and slow lunches, perfect for a calmer day.
Visiting on a cruise? Read this
Kuşadası is one of the Aegean's busiest cruise ports, and a safari is one of the few shore excursions you can fit comfortably into a port day. Half-day options leave plenty of buffer to get back to the ship, and a private 4x4 or buggy beats a crowded coach if you have already seen Ephesus on a previous cruise. Since 2014 we have timed our pickups around all-aboard times, so you ride knowing you will be back at the gangway with time to spare.
What to bring in summer
- Closed shoes (trainers are fine — no sandals on quads or buggies)
- Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat
- Water and a light scarf or buff for the dust
- Clothes you do not mind getting dusty
- A secured phone or action camera for the views
Hotel pickup from central Kuşadası is included on most tours, and morning or afternoon sessions let you plan the rest of your day around the ride. Families are welcome — little ones ride along in two-seater buggies or the jeep.
