Sun Princess on a Kuşadası Friday: matching a safari to her hours

If you sail on Sun Princess and she stops at Kuşadası, the odds are good that it is a Friday. The port schedule as of early October 2026 lists 11 calls over the next 12 months, and eight of them fall on a Friday. The odd ones out are Thursday 22 October 2026, Tuesday 6 July 2027 and Monday 2 August 2027.

The weekday is the predictable part. The hours are not. Sun Princess turns up on three different timetables, and each one gives your day a slightly different shape. The good news is that our 11:00 safari fits all of them. The detail is below, and the full list of Sun Princess calls shows every date with its current port hours.

A quick word on the ship herself: she is a Sphere-class ship from Princess Cruises and entered service in 2024. Princess gives her capacity as about 4,300 guests, counted on a lower-berth basis.

Three sets of port hours

Here is how the 11 calls split up:

  • 07:00 to 18:00, six calls. Thursday 22 October 2026, then Fridays 23 April, 14 May, 4 June, 27 August and 17 September 2027.
  • 09:00 to 19:00, three calls. Tuesday 6 July, Friday 23 July and Friday 6 August 2027.
  • 07:00 to 16:00, two calls. Friday 2 July and Monday 2 August 2027.

The jump from October to April is our quiet season too. Between 1 December and 31 March we run no safaris, and we reopen on 1 April, three weeks ahead of her Friday 23 April call.

So the summer is where the variety sits. July and August 2027 have three calls each, and between them they use all three timetables. If your cruise falls in those two months, check the hours for your exact date rather than assuming the usual pattern.

The long 07:00–18:00 day, walked through

This is the most common Sun Princess day, so it is worth seeing hour by hour.

The ship is alongside at 07:00, which leaves a little over three hours before you need to meet us. That is enough time for breakfast without rushing and a slow walk along the harbour front.

At 10:10 you meet us at Kervansaray (The Big Ottoman Palace). It stands about 50 m from where you leave the cruise port, and this map pin takes you straight there. From Kervansaray it is roughly a 15-minute drive to the trails behind Pamucak beach.

The ride itself starts at 11:00 and lasts about two hours on pine-forest tracks. Partway through there is a 30-minute stop at Pamucak beach for a swim or simply a sit by the water.

You are back at the port between 13:45 and 14:15. With an 18:00 departure, that leaves between 3 hours 45 minutes and 4 hours 15 minutes. Our own rule asks for 60 minutes, so there is a comfortable cushion here, and plenty of afternoon left if you want lunch in town before going back on board.

How the other two timetables change things

Arriving at 09:00, leaving at 19:00

On the three 09:00 days the morning is shorter: just over an hour from arrival to the 10:10 meeting time. That is fine for most people, but it is not a morning for a long breakfast. Get off the ship early and head for Kervansaray first. The reward is at the other end of the day. Back by 14:15 at the latest, you have close to five hours before the 19:00 departure.

The 19:00 departure might look like an opening for our afternoon ride. It is not. The 16:00 tour brings people back between 18:45 and 19:15, which leaves at most 15 minutes before she sails, and we need a full hour. For the 16:00 session a ship has to stay until 20:15 or later.

Arriving at 07:00, leaving at 16:00

Friday 2 July and Monday 2 August 2027 are the short days. The morning still works: the ship is in by 07:00, well before 10:10, and the 11:00 tour has you back by 14:15. That gives 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes before a 16:00 departure, which passes our 60-minute rule but leaves less slack. On these two dates the all-aboard time in your daily programme matters most. It is usually earlier than the departure time, so compare it with a 14:15 return before you book.

Quad, buggy or horse on a Sun Princess day

The buggy safari and the quad safari run on the same trails and need no driving licence. Drivers must be at least 16, and you can choose a single or double vehicle, which is handy if one person in a couple would rather sit back. Everyone gets a helmet, goggles and a safety briefing, then follows the guide in convoy. Children younger than about 2 cannot come on either.

If engines are not your thing, the horse safari is made for beginners. Riders from 8 can go on their own, and younger children join with an experienced adult companion, and the group stays small with a riding guide. Helmets are provided. On horseback, swimming at the beach stop depends on the season.

Before you book your date

The quickest route is the cruise day planner. Choose Sun Princess and your date, and it tells you which session fits and fills in the booking form. For every call on the current schedule, that will be the 11:00 tour.

Port hours do get revised after cruises go on sale. A call that moves from an 18:00 to an earlier departure would tighten the morning, and one that stays later into the evening could change the picture again. Before you confirm, take another look at the Sun Princess ship page, which always carries the latest times.
