Viking Sky's October weekend in Kuşadası: a safari checklist

Viking Sky's Kuşadası calls are close at hand. The port schedule as of early October 2026 lists two for her in the next 12 months, and both are this month: Sunday 18 October and Saturday 24 October 2026. A Sunday and then a Saturday, six days apart, with nothing further listed for the year after.
That gives you two weeks or so, not months, and her port times have not been announced yet. When they are, they go straight onto the Viking Sky page. This post is a short checklist for the days in between.
Viking Sky entered service in 2017. She carries about 930 guests in 465 cabins.
A checklist for the next fortnight
Confirm which date is yours. If your sailing includes Kuşadası on 18 or 24 October, that is the day to plan around. If your trip includes both calls, treat them separately: the hours can differ from one call to the next, so one day may suit a ride while the other does not.
Find three numbers. Arrival, departure and the all-aboard time. The first two will show on the ship page and in your Viking documents once published; the third is printed in the daily programme on board and is usually earlier than the departure.
Run the two tests in the next section.
Decide on the ride: quad, buggy or horse.
Book through the planner, or message us on WhatsApp if anything looks unclear.
October is still our season. The safaris close for winter on 1 December, stay closed until 31 March and return on 1 April, so neither of Viking Sky's dates is affected.
The two tests
We start rides at 11:00 and 16:00, and we have you back at the port at least 60 minutes before the ship departs.
- 11:00 ride: Viking Sky in port by 10:10, departing at 15:15 or later.
- 16:00 ride: in port by 15:10, departing at 20:15 or later.
If the all-aboard time leaves you less than an hour after the ride gets back, treat that time as the deadline instead. Passing both tests means you can choose. Passing neither means no safari on that day, and the planner will show it that way. Calls that look like an overnight, or numbers that are only just enough, are a WhatsApp question.
Where the ride sits in your day
Here is the morning version, step by step:
- Leave the ship and walk the roughly 50 m from the cruise port exit to the Kervansaray meeting point (The Big Ottoman Palace); here it is on the map.
- 10:10: we meet you there.
- Around 15 minutes by road to the pine forest behind Pamucak beach.
- 11:00: the ride begins, about two hours on forest trails with a 30-minute sea break at Pamucak beach.
- Between 13:45 and 14:15: back at the port.
If her hours suit the afternoon instead, everything moves by five hours: 15:10 at Kervansaray, 16:00 on the trails, back between 18:45 and 19:15.
Quad, buggy or horse
If you want to drive, take the quad safari or the buggy safari: no licence, a minimum driver age of 16, single or double vehicles, and a helmet, goggles and a safety briefing before the guide leads the convoy out. Children younger than about 2 cannot ride along. If you would rather sit on a horse, the horse safari welcomes beginners from 8 (younger children with an experienced adult companion) in a small group with a riding guide, helmet included. On horseback, a swim at the beach depends on the season.
Booking at short notice
As soon as your date shows times, open the cruise day planner, choose Viking Sky and the date, and it tells you which ride fits and fills in the form. If you are staying in Kuşadası before or after the cruise, that day does not depend on the ship, and from April to November we can pick you up from your hotel.
With only two weeks to go, the full list of Viking Sky calls is worth a look every few days.
