Emerald Azzurra and Kuşadası: a safari plan for families and friends

Emerald Azzurra is a small ship. Emerald Cruises puts her at 100 guests, and she has been sailing since 2022. If you are coming ashore in Kuşadası with family or friends, the first question is usually not which safari is best but who in your party is allowed to do what. Ages, drivers and riders are worth sorting out early.

The port schedule as of early October 2026 lists three Kuşadası calls for her, and for all three the port times have not been announced yet. So this is a good stretch of time to sort out the group side of things, and leave the clock until later. The dates and any published hours are on the Emerald Azzurra ship page.

The three dates

• Monday 31 May 2027
• Saturday 10 July 2027
• Saturday 21 August 2027

Roughly six weeks separate each visit, and two of the three fall on a Saturday. All three are inside our riding season. The trails are shut from 1 December to 31 March and reopen on 1 April, so even her May visit is comfortably clear of the closed months.

Who can drive, who can ride

This is where groups usually need a minute, so here are the rules in one place.

Quad and buggy. No driving licence is needed, but the driver must be 16 or older. Each vehicle comes as a single or a double, so one person can drive with a passenger. Children younger than about 2 cannot come on the quad or buggy at all. Everyone wears a helmet and goggles, there is a safety briefing first, and the whole group rides in convoy behind a guide. The buggy safari and the quad safari follow the same trails.

Horse. The horse safari suits complete beginners. Riders from 8 go on their own, and younger children ride with an experienced adult companion. It goes out in a small group with a riding guide, and a helmet is provided. Swimming during the beach stop on this tour depends on the season.

Matching your group to a session

Every tour runs at either 11:00 or 16:00, lasts about two hours on pine-forest trails behind Pamucak beach, and includes a 30-minute break on the beach. Which session you can join depends entirely on Emerald Azzurra's hours, which is why we cannot say yet.

The rule is that you must be back at the port at least 60 minutes before the ship departs. So:

• Morning group: the ship needs to be in by 10:10 and leaving at 15:15 or later. You meet us at 10:10 and are back at the port between 13:45 and 14:15.
• Afternoon group: the ship needs to be in by 15:10 and leaving at 20:15 or later. You meet at 15:10 and are back between 18:45 and 19:15.

The meeting point is Kervansaray (The Big Ottoman Palace), about 50 m from the cruise port exit, and this map pin takes you straight there. The drive to the start is about 15 minutes.

When your times come through, also look for the all-aboard time in the daily programme. It is usually earlier than the departure time, and it is the one to plan around. If neither session fits, a safari will not work that day, and we will tell you that plainly. If the hours look unclear or suggest an overnight stay, message us on WhatsApp.

Booking for several people

Once the times are published, the cruise day planner takes your ship and date, tells you which session fits and fills in the form. If your group is spending a night in Kuşadası before or after the cruise, you can book any date in our April-to-November season instead, with pickup from your hotel.
